Beccles Chamber Orchestra was formed by violinist Stephen Blake in February 1999 and gave its first concert in September 1999. It has since then established a reputation for performing to an exceptionally high standard. It attracts professional orchestral players, local music teachers and keen amateur musicians and has about 20 regular members.

For its Symphony concerts it is joined by some 30 orchestral players from all over East Anglia, many of whom are professional musicians who have worked with major orchestras in this country and abroad.
